Our mission

Quest One is a global leader in PEM electrolysis. Our goal is clear: we aim to make a significant impact in reducing greenhouse gases with our electrolyzers. Since our beginnings as a science project in 1997, we’ve grown into a subsidiary of MAN Energy Solutions with around 550 employees across three locations worldwide.
Our mission: Drive climate protection and actively shape the energy transition. Are you ready to join us on this journey?

Our goal: Reduce 1% of the world’s greenhouse gases by 2050. Quest One.

Your Responsibilities

As a Power Systems Engineer for switch gear or IGBT you play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing our green hydrogen production technology. With a focus on power electronics and electrical system integration, this position ensures our electrolyzers operate efficiently and safely within various operational environments. Your expertise and strategic insights are crucial to driving our mission forward, enhancing sustainable hydrogen solutions while upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence in both product and project development.

  • Project-Specific Electrical Engineering: you will lead the engineering efforts for power electronics projects, including the assessment of regional grid connection conditions and adherence to all applicable norms, guidelines, and standards.
  • Design and Planning of Power Supply Systems: you will oversee the design of transformers and rectifiers (MV/LV and rectifiers [IGBT]), including enclosures, and plan the cabling and routing for low-voltage connections to customer sites, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and collaborative product engineering efforts.
  • Technical Documentation and Adaptation: you will prepare and revise technical documentation, including specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs) and layout plans. Adapt designs to meet specific customer requirements and address technical feasibility concerns.
  • Customer Interaction and Solution Development: you will engage directly with customers to answer technical queries and tailor product solutions and develop integrated system solutions using existing products to meet customer needs.
  • Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: you will contribute to sales, bidding, engineering and project management teams in both Germany and the US and contribute insights to product management and development processes, enhancing product offerings and strategic direction.

What you bring

  • You are graduated in Electrical Engineering or in a closely related field.
  • You have a minimum of 7-12 years of experience in electrical and hardware planning for automated, process engineering plants (ideally onsite experience in hydrogen & oil and gas projects).
  • You have a strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards and regulations (NEC / IEC).
  • You bring expertise in electrical protection concepts and power electronics, specifically in the design of transformers (medium to low voltage transformers, switch gears).
  • You bring design experience of IGBT rectifier for MV/LV applications.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy to power grid integration design is a plus.
  • You are highly independent with a strong sense of responsibility and team collaboration skills.
  • PE (professional engineering license) would be preferred but not required.
  • You are proficient in MS Office and fluent in English with excellent communication skills and a costumer-oriented approach.
